Busy at work. Christmas. Family got the flu. Winter snowstorms, excuse, excuse, excuse…
I’ve actually spent relatively little time playing WoW since Thanksgiving, but here’s a quick update on what I have accomplished.
Leveled my warlock to 44, a new shaman to 21, and my druid to 90. Yay!
Bodolf, that’s the druid, went Boomkin, and all of a sudden I found him fun to play. My first toon in WoW ever was a night elf druid back in vanilla. He made it to about 16th level before I abandoned him for the mage who became, and still is, my main.
I made repeated attempts at leveling a druid over the years, and always lost interest somewhere along the way. I started Bodolf when worgen became a playable race, along with 20 million other people. He kept my interest through the worgen starting zone, and then stalled. During Cata, when I had hit my limit of progression for my style of play with my main and main alts, I came back to Bodolf and gradually brought him up to the 50s, running feral all the time. It was kind of painful, but since I had nothing better to do, I made some meager progress.
Now in MoP, I again got bored with my top 3, and dusted Bodolf off once more. Slowly, painfully, I worked him up to 70, then let him sit again when Timeless Isle opened up. I complained to a friend that the druid and I never really clicked, and he asked a pretty simple and obvious question… “What’s your spec?”
I had never tried anything but feral, mostly bear, sometimes cat, never anything else. So that day, I switched my spec to balance. What a difference!
In no time I leveled him to 85. An Elixir of Ancient Knowledge, courtesy of Archiereus made a huge difference to my progress through Northrend. Even when my heirlooms quit being useful, and my progress slowed to a crawl through Pandaria, I still didn’t lose interest.
So now I have a 90 druid. He’s equipped with timeless gear, and has even run a few LFR sessions. I owe it all to a spec change. Have you tried out all the specs for your toons?
Now I wonder once more, “what shall I do next?”
